The Complete list of Diploma in Civil Engineering Subjects

A diploma in Civil Engineering is a vocational qualification that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as civil engineering technicians.

This program (Diploma in Civil Engineering) aims to produce innovative, creative, and flexible graduates, who will cope with the dynamic changes of technology and socio-economic needs.

It focuses on the ability to analyze and design statically determine structure design material mixes.

Also, it focuses on constructing and installing Civil Engineering structures and services and maintaining and repairing Building Engineering structures.

Furthermore, it focuses on managing small-scale projects, troubleshooting and providing solutions, preparing reports and keeping records, communicating effectively, and using professional packages.

Admission Requirement

Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a pass in at least four (4) non-Religious subjects, three of which must be Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

OR

Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) from Technical Secondary Schools with a pass in at least four (4) non-religious subjects, three of which must be Mathematics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, and any one of the following subjects: Architectural Drafting/Building Construction, Electrical Engineering Science/Electrical Drafting, Workshop Technology/ Mechanical Drafting.

OR

Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a pass in at least four (4) non-Religious subjects, two must be among the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with possession of TRADE TEST GRADE I / NVA LEVEL III issued by VETA.

Diploma in Civil Engineering:

Learning Outcome

This diploma in Civil Engineering has been designed to ensure that graduates have;

  • Appropriate technical practical skills in constructing and maintaining Civil and Building structures;
  • A thorough understanding of the fundamental principles associated with engineering applications;
  • The ability to communicate with members of an organization at the same, higher, and lower levels of expertise or responsibility; and Positive response to dynamically changing socioeconomic and technological needs.

Assessment

The program will be assessed based on Assignments, Laboratory work, Classroom tests, End of module examinations, and Project work.

The mode of assessment will be made up of 40% continuous assessment and 60% end-of-semester examination:
